Welcome to Simply Mommie's Precious Handmades
A short introduction about myself: I was a school teacher before my current stint as a stay-at-home-mum and I gave piano lessons for six years (while pursuing my studies) before I entered the teaching profession (no prizes for guessing why I stopped teaching piano :) ).
I guess my love for teaching didn't stop after I stopped working because I have been trying to constantly 'teach' my little one new things. And ever since my daughter turned 19months, I decided to start making learning aids to teach her and that was how I slowly discovered my passion for making learning aids.
While it is easy and convenient to purchase off-the-shelf learning aids (and I do too even though I make my own, but sometimes it's just too tiring and tedious, honestly!), it's just well, nice, to have something that's personalised to suit the child's learning needs and styles. Besides, don't we just sometimes get bored buying highly commercialised items? :)
I have only started out, hence I've not many items for sale as yet. The site's periodically updated to showcase new learning aids so do check in on my store every now and then.
These learning aids are all original ideas and handcrafted by me and hence, with the amount of labour (e.g. a learning aid with 50 removable parts would mean I have to cut 50 of such parts, laminate them, cut and stick up to 100 pcs of velcro, and possibly trim 50x4 corners should these pcs have sharp edges) and time (just imagine the time I need to make the set of learning aids I've described earlier! and that excludes the time that went into designing them) that go into the learning aids (not to mention the cost price of laminating pouches, original ink cartridges for printing, velcro, etc.), they do not come, well, cheap.
Nevertheless, if you can see past the fact that the learning aids are just laminated pieces of paper that have been made visually appealing, you would be able to appreciate and recognise the ceativity and the love that went into making them. :)
Happy shopping! :)
